This timeout is the maximum length of inactive time before a registration session is reset.

When a registration session is reset all the information provided by the user is forgotten.  If the user returns to the registration process they will be forced to begin again at the start.

The time value of this setting is measured in minutes.  Its maximum allowable value is 30 and minimum is 0 which means no timeout.

For security reasons it is recommended that zero (0) not be used in production environments.

The session timeout is applied universally to sessions whether those sessions are using test-mode features or production-mode features.
